ERS Wireless (ERS), an award-winning wireless voice, video, and data solutions company, is celebrating 75 years of excellence in the industry. The third-generation family-owned business was founded by Milton “Jim” Hull in 1948 with the aim of improving communications and public safety by installing and repairing two-way radios. Today, ERS is one of the largest Motorola Solutions Channel Partners in the United States, serving the Midwest from multiple locations across Indiana and Kentucky.
Brian Hull, the current President, and third-generation owner of ERS, learned the business from his grandfather and father, repairing and installing two-way radios in public service vehicles, climbing radio towers, and deploying and repairing antennas. Other business owners include his brothers, John Hull and Mark Hull, and business partner Tony Owens. “Dedication to our customers, serving as our customers’ advocates and doing the right thing is the focus of where we are today and where we have always been,” said Hull. “It’s always been more about what we solve than what we sell. We help keep the public safe and kids in schools safe. It goes beyond the cool solutions we sell to supporting our communities and local businesses with security, safety, and productivity.”
ERS began as one of the original Authorized Motorola Service Stations, catering to Indiana’s law enforcement communities. Over the years, it transformed into a Motorola Authorized Two-way Radio Dealer, providing push-to-talk solutions to schools, manufacturers, and enterprise customers. Recognizing the importance of communication towers, ERS formed strategic partnerships with Motorola Solutions to support critical infrastructure and statewide public safety communications.
Committed to community well-being, ERS actively supports organizations such as Boys & Girls Club, Simon Youth Foundation, Hoosier Burn Camp, Kentucky Sheriff’s Boys & Girls Ranch, numerous educational foundations, Junior Achievement, Special Olympics, local community and various public safety organizations.
“One of the best things about being in this industry so long is we’ve been an integral part of the technology evolution and have been able to help customers improve processes, efficiency, and safety with these technologies. I think my grandfather would be impressed at what we’ve become.”
ERS has consistently earned accolades from Motorola Solutions, receiving the prestigious “Empower Circle” award, a distinction that identifies the company as one of Motorola Solutions’ premier channel partners for North America. The company has also won the Motorola Pinnacle of Customer Excellence Award twice for outstanding customer service initiatives.
ERS continues to innovate and invest in its’ business to bring new and improved solutions to their customers. Recently, ERS became one of the first Motorola Solutions partners to be a Safety Reimagined Badged Partner making them uniquely qualified to engineer, deploy, and maintain integrated voice, video, and data (AI) security solutions.
Brian Hull reflects on the journey: “One of the best things about being in this industry so long is we’ve been an integral part of the technology evolution and have been able to help customers improve processes, efficiency, and safety with these technologies,” Hull said. “I think my grandfather would be impressed at what we’ve become.”
75 years is a milestone that very few companies reach. The combination of many great employees, several with 10, 20, and even 30+ years of service, along with customers that trust in us, as well as our long partnership with Motorola Solutions and their continued advancements in technology innovation, has molded the company we are today. Thank you for being an integral part of this milestone.
