Can Your Cameras Talk to Your Radios?

Can your video surveillance cameras talk to your two-way radios? If not, they can!

The integration of video security and radio is a powerful tool for any security and safety team. Imagine an alert being sent that an exterior door is breech, then being able to see live video of the door of concern. With Radio Alert software, Motorola Radios and Avigilon surveillance cameras can be integrated- allowing users the ability to receive and acknowledge Avigilon Control Center (ACC) alerts/alarms on their radios instantly. The integration works by connecting the Avigilon Radio Alert software to the radio network and to the ACC site. Alarms triggered by video analytics, access control, and watchlist match events are automatically pushed to the radios in the form of text messages and/or text-to-voice alerts. This allows security personnel to review alarms from their radios and depending on the type of radio that they’re using, they can even see live video footage of the door that is propped open. This helps security teams be more proactive in situations without needing to be at their computer.

Schools, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, retail, hospitality, and many other businesses can benefit from integrated video security and radio systems. Every customer has their own unique type of situation that is problematic that they’re trying to prevent. A school in Central Indiana approached us about a problem they were having where kids would climb on the top of the roof. This was a huge liability concern for the school. Using the Avigilon Radio Alert coupled with Avigilon video cameras and Motorola radios, we were able to design a Beam Cross alert that would send an alarm when someone crosses the specified area. This solution has helped the school be aware and proactive when someone crosses that area.
